The Phobjikha Valley is unarguably Bhutan’s most beautiful location. This is basically a vast U-shaped glacial valley cuddling many wonders in its arms. The valley gives you an opportunity to spot large groups of black-necked cranes during winter months. It is counted among the best wildlife reserves in Bhutan being home to numerous animals like muntjacs (barking deer), wild boars, Himalayan black bears, sambars, serows, etc.

Gangte Goemba Gangte Goemba remains the most popular attraction in Phobjikha Valley. It is located on a beautiful forested hill overlooking emerald landscapes. It features a central goemba, quarters of monks, a small guesthouse and numerous meditation centres. As you enter into the Gangte Goemba, you will see woodwork which adds to its beauty.

Black-Necked Crane Information Centre This centre lets you know a lot about black-necked cranes and the environment of the valley. It is also the place of valley’s fledgling ecotourism initiative and from here many mountain-bike tours and hiking guides are arranged to let travellers explore the nature sprawling around.

Nyelung Dechenling Constructed by the 14th-century Nyingma Dzogchen master Longchen Rabjam, Nyelung Dechenling houses some remarkable relics and narrates many stories about the saints and miracles which happened here.

Khewang Lhakhang Khewang Lhakhang belongs to the 15th-century and sits on the east side of the Phobjikha valley. It has three statues of two-storey showing the past, present and future Buddhas. The place hosts a tsechu on the third day of the ninth month when hundreds of local men flock here to perform dancing and celebrating victory over local demons.

Wangmo Hand-Woven Carpet Factory Visit this small Wangmo Hand-Woven Carpet Factory which is run by the locals only. It was set up in 1992 by a local woman and is a great place to buy beautiful carpets at reasonable prices.

Kumbhu Lhakhang This is a famous Buddhist temple of the Phobjikha Valley. It is not only a protector chapel but also a meditation retreat centre. It is dedicated to the Bon deity Sipey Gyalmo. Kumbhu stands for '100,000 statues'. The place has both historical as well as religious values and remains a must visit in Bhutan.
