Bhaktapur is an ancient Newa city sitting in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal. It is also known with the name of Khwopa. Nyatapola Temple Also plan a visit to the Nyatapola Temple, counted among the tallest temples in Nepal. Its top looks like three hats placed over each other. The temple is dedicated to Hindu goddess Lakshimiare, a manifestation of the goddess Durga. The temple was raised between 1701 and 1702 and remains a fine example of Newari’s craftsmanship.

National Art Gallery Those having a fascination for museums must check out the National Art Gallery inside the premises of an old Royal Palace. The gallery here has been divided into two sections - the stone art and the painting. While the former section exhibits Bhaktapur’s medieval sculptures, the latter shows ancient manuscripts and scroll paintings.

Potters’ Squares Watch pottery making skills at the two Potters’ Squares in the city - Dattatreya Temple and square, and the Talako’s Potters’ Square. These places keep the cultures of the city alive with their beautiful displays of craftsmanship. You can even buy kitchenware or homeware from here basking in the sun.

Palace of Fifty-five Windows Another popular attraction of the city is the Palace of Fifty-five Windows of Durbar Square. Here numerous royal ceremonies are conducted. The palace has fifty-five balconies showcasing the skills of wood carvers in ancient Nepal. It also has several courtyards which look grand and majestic.
